About Seventh-day Adventists

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a mainstream Protestant church with approximately 19 million members worldwide, including more than one million members in North America. The Seventh-day Adventist Church seeks to enhance quality of life for people everywhere and to let people know that Jesus is coming back again soon.

Adventists believe in a Trinity of three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—Who make up a unified God Family. They work together through Selfless Love, creating and maintaining all the physical Universe and it’s inhabitants, including planet earth and us of the human race.

When the first pair of humans abandoned trust in the God Family, violating God’s Universal law, they became subject to a death penalty. And, the functioning of their human minds down-regulated into a broken mental state, called sin. But Jesus, the Son, as our Creator, volunteered to first, take that penalty upon Himself for the whole human race. His death would make it possible then for the God Family to pardon failures to perfectly obey their laws of life because of their ignorance and broken imperfect minds. Jesus came to our earth and joined us as a human baby in Bethlehem to experience what we all go through as defective humans now. But He lived a perfect (defect-free) life aligned with all the Father’s will and good laws.

Then, after Jesus died for our death penalty, the Father gave Him a new life and Jesus returned to Heaven. Secondly, as our Saviour, Representative and Defender in Heaven, Jesus now gives people who choose to believe and follow Him, the power to live an obedient new life now, above their brokenness, defects, and weaknesses.

When He returned to heaven following His resurrection, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to serve as our Comforter and Counselor. He promised to return to earth a second time to take His believing people to heaven. Adventists are among all believers who look forward to that great day.

Adventists also believe all that the Holy Scriptures say about every topic of life that God has included there. He wants to upgrade our health, happiness and quality of life in everything—the ways we live, eat, speak, think, treat each other, care for our families and the world around us, our jobs, our talents, our money, our time, all are important to Him.
